什么是「叩门位」？
  「叩门位」又称「皇帝位」，是小一统一派位结果公布后，校长可酌情收取的学生名额。这是由于原先已取录的学生没有到校登记入学、自行放弃了学位而得来的「空缺」，或者是校长在每班固定的人数外，多收的名额。例如，小学每班三十人，校长最多只可多收三人。所以「叩门位」的名额极少，名校的竞争非常剧烈，往往有几百人争夺十多个学额。

  应什么时候开始「叩门」？
  虽然每间小学的「叩门」安排都不尽相同，但普遍都在派位后一星期内接受申请，所以若发榜后结果未如理想，便应立即联络心仪的学校，查询叩门的安排事宜，并提交申请。

  自荐信的重点
  切忌冗长，应以一页为限，请明白校长要对着数以百计的信件的。
  清楚说明你对学校教学宗旨与理念的理解，并如何配合。
  举出子女的优点及如何能帮助学校，例如曾夺得公开音乐比赛的奖项。
  表达家长对子女和学校的承担，例如日常有充足时间亲子，将来积极参与校内活动等。
  范本只可作参考，切勿直抄。

  取录的重要因素
  渴望入读该校，亦即"忠诚度"。(自行分配学位与统一派位时的第一志愿都选该校)
  面试时的表现，包括常识、礼貎、应对及会否害羞等。
  家长对学校认识与认同，例如教育理念相同等。
  家长对子女的责任与承担，父母必须出席，絶不能由祖父母或其他人代替。
  学生的幼儿园成绩、信仰背景等。
